"Holy special features Batman!"

The Movie:

More than a movie, the 1966 cinematic adaptation of the comic-book and hit television series, Batman was a phenomenon. Forty two years later, with six subsequent films involving the titular character having hit the Cineplex, Leslie Martinson’s campy eye for the character seems dated and archaic, yet there is an undeniable energy that permeates through this wonderfully colorful Batman, forever ingraining the picture within the confines of the pulse of American culture.

Millionaire Bruce Wayne is Batman (Adam West), Gotham City’s greatest crime fighter, along with his trusted ward, Dick Grayson, the unmovable Robin (Burt Ward), are about to meet their match as the greatest super villains the world has ever seen have teamed up to doom not just our hero’s fair city, but the entire world. The Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Cat Woman have devised a devilish plan to use a secret weapon to eradicate world leaders from around the globe, hoping that chaos and anarchy will rule in their wake. Will the Dynamic Duo be able to overcome insurmountable odds to stop them?

Far from the dark and gloomy Gotham audiences have come to know through the minds of Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan, Batman: The Movie is set under sunny Californian skies. Equally bright are the colorful set pieces and costumes, representing not only the groovy sixties, but also a bygone era of comic-books. Complete with campy dialogue, outlandish performances and overtly American values this is a Batman that will have youngsters captivated and adults rolling with laughter.
